Venta – Global IoT & Digital Twin Platform for Air Purifiers

The Challenge

The main challenges were twofold: First, multi-region IoT architecture – building a robust infrastructure that works reliably across different regions with varying Azure service availability, requiring alternative concepts for IoT Hub, telemetry processing, and API access. Second, cloud-enabling legacy device generations – many existing air purifiers could no longer be updated, requiring mechanisms to reliably integrate telemetry data, control commands, and firmware-like logic into the IoT cloud. Additionally, complexity grew with requirements for AI-based calculations of air pollution, comfort values, and automated device control.

Our Solution

We developed a complete end-to-end IoT architecture: The Device Layer connected all devices – including legacy models – using adapted communication logic. The Cloud Layer included IoT Hub for telemetry and command/control, API Management for interfaces, partner access, and app communication, Azure Functions for business logic, automation, and rule-based control, and Stream Analytics for AI-adjacent calculations including environmental metrics, air pollution levels, and dynamic comfort values. For Digital Twin, we defined a robust data model that precisely represents each air purifier's state, visualizable in the app, consolidating telemetry data, sensor data, and analytical calculations in real-time. For different regions, we developed replacement services, alternative routing strategies, separate deployments, and modified interfaces to deliver a fully compatible, market-ready IoT solution.

The Result

The company received an international IoT platform that is fully functional in all markets, enables a modern app experience, provides a reliable Digital Twin for each device, utilizes AI-based air quality calculations, makes legacy air purifiers cloud-ready, and automatically controls devices based on intelligent functions and analytics. End users benefit from a simple, intuitive app while complex logic runs reliably in the background.
