LiPAD - Portable Precision Alignment App

The Challenge
LITEF needed a professional mobile companion app for their LiPAD portable inertial measurement device. The app had to visualize complex 3D orientation data (pitch, roll, azimuth) in real-time, support multiple measurement applications (3D absolute positioning, parallel alignment, relative angle measurement), and enable operators to record, manage, and export measurement data in the field. The solution required Bluetooth LE connectivity, offline project management, and support for multiple angular units (degrees, radians, gons) with mine grid correction.
Our Solution
We developed LiPAD from the ground up as a native Android application using Java and Material Design principles. The app features real-time visualization of Euler angles with custom indicators, multiple measurement application modes, project-based data organization with CSV export, and comprehensive device management including alignment monitoring, battery status, and health diagnostics. We implemented robust Bluetooth LE communication using the Nordic BLE library for reliable connectivity with the LiPAD hardware. The app supports automatic test programs and multi-language interfaces.
The Result
The LiPAD app was successfully published on Google Play and is actively used by LITEF customers for precision alignment tasks in aerospace and industrial applications. The solution enables field operators to perform complex surveying tasks with sub-degree precision, manage measurement projects offline, and export data for further analysis. The app significantly streamlined the workflow for portable inertial measurement operations.
