FPGA Conference Europe – Registration & Booking System

The Challenge

The FPGA Conference Europe is the largest trade conference for programmable technologies in Europe, bringing together hundreds of hardware and software developers each year. The organizers needed a robust registration system that could handle complex booking scenarios: attendees selecting from multiple parallel tracks, booking hands-on workshops with limited seats, and managing different ticket types. The existing process involved manual coordination between registration forms and session scheduling, creating administrative overhead and risking overbooking of popular sessions. They needed an integrated solution that would give attendees a seamless self-service experience while providing organizers with real-time visibility into registrations and capacity.

Our Solution

We developed a comprehensive conference registration and booking platform with an Angular frontend and Java/Spring Boot backend. The system guides attendees through the complete registration flow: creating their profile, browsing the multi-track program schedule, selecting sessions of interest, and booking workshops. Key features include an interactive schedule view showing all parallel sessions across multiple days, real-time seat availability for workshops, automatic conflict detection when sessions overlap, and integrated payment processing for different ticket types. The backend handles automatic seat assignment and waitlist management when sessions fill up.

The Result

The registration platform served the FPGA Conference Europe successfully for three consecutive years, handling hundreds of registrations per event. The self-service booking dramatically reduced administrative work, while the automatic seat management eliminated overbooking issues. Attendees appreciated the ability to plan their conference experience in advance, seeing exactly which sessions were available and building their personal schedule. The organizers gained valuable insights into session popularity, helping them plan room assignments and identify topics for future events.
